IUP CPDC Assistant Director for Career and Academic Success, Jeremy Risinger, is the recipient of two awards this past spring semester. First, the IUP Research Institute Award for New Investigators (photo right), which is awarded by the IUP Research Institute. This award is to recognize a researcher who, for the previous academic year, participated in and achieved success (for the first time) in receiving an externally funded, competitive award. The second award Jeremy was presented is the Club/Organization Advisor of the Year (photo left), awarded by the IUP Office of Student Leadership. This distinguished award is given to the advisor of an organization that has provided the students they guide with continuous support. Recipients demonstrate exemplary leadership, contribute positively to the student organization, and promote personal growth among students.

Lynn Schwartzmiller, Business Manager and Career Closet Coordinator, Duquesne University, was this year's recipient of the Duquesne University Staff Award: Champion for Campus Engagement and Community. This award honors a staff member who exemplifies these values through meaningful interactions, fostering connection, and creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere at Duquesne University and the broader community.

Pitt-Greensburg: "Proud is an understatement at achieving a campus milestone in having Pitt-Greensburg senior, Warren Shope, be the first at our University of Pittsburgh regional campus (and second for the entire University system) to receive the JoAnne Day Student of the Year Award (2026) for his outstanding internship with Neuronetics. Majoring in Management with concentrations in Markeing and Finance, Warren Shope, gained hands on experience in medical sales and marketing while helping expand access to innovative mental health treatments. We had the opportunity to recognize Warren by presenting his award at our annual campus events, the Leadership Ceremony and Honors Convocation, in April."

Pitt-Greensburg: "The bi-annual Business Conference held April 1st, 2026, at The University of Pittsburgh- Greensburg was a success!  With over 20 employers represented, the networking opportunities were vibrant, and students & alumni were enthusiastic to make connections! A huge shout out to our event sponsor, Enterprise Mobility, keynote speaker from the Downtown Greensburg Project, Jessica Hickey, and our outstanding alum (see panel photo) who provided valuable words of wisdom from their own journeys and experiences (Joey DiNinno '23, Lucas Wycich '24, Ian Watson '21, Laura Petagno '19, Courtney Baum '98).

The UPG Career Services team is grateful to the planning committee that included our stellar faculty & staff, the Accounting & Business Club members, Majors Mentors student leaders (see photo with Accounting mentor: Jessica Dunn and Healthcare Management mentor: Jailyn Walker with Assistant Director of Career Services: Marcy Yonkey, facilities staff, dining hall staff and Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association."

The Pitt-Greensburg Career Development team held their 2nd annual Pave Your Path Internship Panel Event on March 2nd, with a powerhouse group of former interns representing a variety of disciplines who collectively completed 12 internships among them, along with being student leaders on campus. They shared real-world experiences and practical advice for students ready to take the next step on their own pre-professional journeys.

Pitt-Greensburg: "Take Your Child To Work Day (April 23rd) fell during a busy time in our office that went perfectly with the goals of Career Services departments! Our Internship Coordinator gave three of her children full exposure to a day in the life of what we all do. They had the opportunity to sit in on a college course to hear a student present about their semester long experience in a healthcare management internship with Redstone, explored the career closet while learning about the importance of presentation related to attire, met with summer interns preparing for their start, and went on an internship site visit to see a Psychology student in action. Job shadowing and building their resumes early!"

Pitt-Greensburg: "[We have] worked with the Westmoreland-Fayette Workforce Investment Board for several years in connecting employers and students, awareness of their programming, presenting at their annual Internship Summit, and having them on our campus to speak with students and faculty. "In May we had the privilege of attending their 25th anniversary celebration! We’re grateful for the opportunity to have been part of a day that truly highlighted the power of community and collaboration in advancing workforce development. The many stakeholders in attendance was a testament to what can be achieved when individuals, organizations, and industries come together with a shared goal of strengthening the workforce and supporting the success of our counties and communities! We are grateful to work with the WIB's Executive Director, Janet Ward, and her entire staff.

A bonus of the event was catching up with one of our recent alumni who had participated in the WIB’s Experience Works Plus! Program last summer. Tucker, who completed THREE internships during his time at Pitt-Greensburg will be stepping into a career with one of them at the beginning of June!"

Marc Goldman, Director, Office of Career Development, Alvernia University, will be performing in the role of John Hancock this summer in 1776, the musical, at the Gettysburg Community Theatre (https://gettysburgcommunitytheatre.org/). The show is part of the America 250 PA celebration this year and runs from mid-July to the beginning of August. And the icing on the cake is that it is his first speaking role on stage in his entire side career/hobby involving theatre arts.

IUP CPDC Associate Director Kelsey Pilotta and her husband, Dr. Marco Pilotta welcomed their sweet baby girl, Rosie Elizabeth, on Sunday, 8 March 2026, at 8:41 PM. She weighed in at 9 lbs. 3 oz. and was 22 in. long! Their newly expanded family is thriving and enjoying special time together!

Stepping outside of the office and lacing up to spend time in the gym at the April 10th, Relay for Life, was also on the spring agenda for members of the Pitt-Greensburg team. Pitt-Greensburg Internship Coordinator, Kristen Stratton, took on a different form of Career Services representation by being a part of the planning committee beginning in January, and seeing the event's execution through April. The impactful event that hit a milestone of 10 years of involvement on the campus, "Decades of Hope," was a success and raised over $6,000 for the American Cancer Society!
