IUP Career and Professional Development Center Welcomed New Team Members
Mike Husenits joined the IUP Career and Professional Development Center last year as the coordinator of the Office of Extended Studies.
Mike is a higher education professional with more than 25 years of experience in the areas of enrollment management, admissions, financial aid, registrar, academic advising, public relations, events management, student affairs, continuing education, and outreach. In his current role, he negotiates and processes Field Service Agreements for the University. This allows IUP students to be protected while on an internship, externship, or other clinical experience. In addition, he is the State Authorization Compliance officer for the University, which means he is responsible for ensuring that the University complies with state and federal regulations related to educational activities outside Pennsylvania.
Mike lives in Greensburg with his wife Melissa and children Luke, Rachel, and Daniel.
Angela Martinelli began working in the IUP Career and Professional Development Center in November 2019 where she oversees budgets and assists with professional training and adult enrichment courses through Extended Studies, as well as supervising the Career Development Advocates.
Before joining the IUP community, Angela worked in academic libraries at Oregon State University, the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, and the State University of New York at Albany. She is a native of Burbank, California and moved to the northeast in 2006.
Angela lives in Johnstown with her husband David and their two cats, Zinfandel and Riesling.
Kevin Fleck joined the IUP Career and Professional Development Center in July as the assistant director for employer engagement, where he assists employers with accessing IUP’s services, including hiring IUP students and alumni, filling internships, and recruiting.
Kevin works with the university’s partners to engage and inform employers about the excellent services at IUP. This year, his goal is to reach out to employers and see how IUP can help them recruit and meet their needs in this new economic environment. In addition to working with employers, Kevin similarly helps students gain the necessary knowledge and skills they need to be successful in their careers.
He earned his Master of Education in Higher Education Management from the University of Pittsburgh and worked in both the career and disability services offices, where he found that he could help students enter their careers through a career services office by working with employers and students to best meet the needs of both.
Kevin lives in Johnstown with his wife Mary and three-year-old son Jack.
